Hang on tight, Texas! Eight seconds may not seem like a long time, but imagine that eight seconds strapped to a 2,000 pound raging bull! Frontier Rodeo Company proudly announces that the inaugural Championship Bull Riding New Years Buckin’ Ball is coming to the Brackenridge Main Event Center in Edna TX on Thursday December 31st 2009! .
The Championship Bull Riding New Years Buckin’ Ball marks first time the CBR has held an event at the Brackenridge Main Event Center. The country’s top bull man, Jerry Nelson, will be bringing the world’s toughest bulls to buck at the New Years Buckin’ Ball. Mr. Nelson is the owner of the country’s top bulls including of the 2006 PBR World Finals Champion Bull, SCENE OF THE CRASH and the 2005 PBR Bull of the Year, BIG BUCKS. Mr. Nelson’s Frontier Rodeo Company was also honored as one of the top livestock contractors in the country at the 2007 PBR World Finals. Frontier Rodeo Company’s extensive background supplying livestock to the PRCA’s National Final Rodeo, the Championship Bull Riding Finals and the Professional Bull Riders Cup events, guarantees the event to be first rate.
“I am extremely excited that Frontier Rodeo Company and the CBR are making their debut in Edna. They are first class organizations whose riders are some of the best and most entertaining in the world,” said Cammie Peason, Director of the Brackenridge Main Event Center.
The legendary bull riding World Champions Tuff Hedeman and Don Gay will serve as the CBR New Years Buckin’ Ball Master of Ceremonies. Tuff Hedeman is a three time bull riding world champion and co- founder of the Professional Bull Riders. Tuff was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1997and into the Professional Bull Riders Ring of Honor in 1999. Don Gay is the only eight time bull riding world champion and is regarded as the preeminent analyst of bull riding. Don serves as the color analyst of ESPN’s bull riding and rodeo programming.
To make the CBR Buckin’ Ball complete, fans will get to ring in the New Year with two of the greatest Texas Country Music Legends as Johnny Rodriguez and Johnny Bush perform after the bull riding! Johnny Rodriguez was the first break-out Latin American country music singer. His debut album went to #1 on the “Top Country Albums” chart and led to his CMA nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year. Over the course of his career, he has released 26 albums and charted 45 singles, with six #1 hits. In 2007, he was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Johnny Bush began his career working in Willie Nelson’s band, who paid for Bush to cut his first album. He later signed with RCA, where he scored a top ten hit with his song “Whiskey River,” which later became Willie’s signature song. In 2003, he was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.
The Championship Bull Riding New Years Buckin’ Ball will be a night filled with the best bull riding and the best music that Texas – and the country – has to offer! The Championship Bull Riding New Years Buckin’ Ball begins at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday December 31st. General admission ticket prices are $20.
