It was a big night in Lubbock, Texas- A huge win for Texas Tech Football and a great night of bull riding. Tuff Hedeman’s Championship Bull Riding Tour Presented by Mahindra Tractors made its final stop before the Kansas City tour finale in Lubbock for the CINCH CBR West Texas Showdown Presented by Frontier Dodge.

Fort Worth, Texas (October 17, 2009)

Tonight’s event determined which 40 riders will be invited to the CBR Tour Finale where the 2009 CBR World Champion will be crowned and $300, 000 in yearend bonus money will be awarded to the top riders.

Rides were not easy to come by tonight but Friday Wright of Moss Point, Mississippi managed to get two good ones in.  Friday was first up on the Mike Johnson bull, McCrazy and scored an 88. He choose to ride Cude Energy in the short round and was marked 91.5 for a 179.5 score.

“This was a great night for bull riding and I hope everyone plans on joining us in Kansas City,” Friday said during the check presentation.

CBR Horizon Series contestant Neil Holmes, of Houston, TX had a breakout night – first on Lil Wayne-Lyndal Hurst ( 86.5) and then on Big Diggin -Wilburn and Williams (91.5) which placed him second in the money.

A large crowd turned out for the event including a large number of fraternity members who were there to cheer on their brothers during the “Steer Riding Challenge” in which the winning organization took home a check for $500. Although Kappa Alpha representative John Edwards got banged up a bit, he managed to score the highest and take home the winnings for his house.
